Strange Bedfellows: Iran and North Korea

The Yonhap News Agency is reporting that hundreds of North Korean scientists and engineers with expertise in nuclear and missile technology are working in Iran to advance the Iranian weapons program.  These may be golden days for the rogue states of the world. World leaders don’t have the time or energy to deal with a global enemy number one while their own economies are in disarray – and economic woes are turning into domestic political unrest.  There has been some mention in the news of the latest IAEA report circulating among the Board of Governors, but, all in all, it seems hard to maintain interest in these countries.

Besides each having a leader with a tenuous grasp on reality, these two countries don’t have the makings of a close alliance – except that Iran has petro-dollars and North Korea needs cash like a junkie needs a fix.
